His entire family is in isolation EXCEPT for Michael because you know life doesn’t stop just because awful things come up. They aren’t even allowed outside at this time. They’ve had to pull the older two out of school, they’ll be missing all the trips and fun activities as well as every day socializing with their peers. To say we miss them tremendously is an understatement. WE ARE PRAYING FOR ANSWERS.
As a derby community we always ban together, I’ve helped as much as I can, along with my entire family and Hannah’s family. This is one more thing we can do to help another derby family in need 💜

This Tuesday will mark 3 weeks of isolation for us. (Well past a month of isolation thus far-A.lato)
At 10 days old we received a call from our pediatrician letting us know that Owen’s PKU (newborn screening) came back abnormal and we needed to have further testing done. The next day the doctor explained that the test would check Owen’s immune functions. Owen had labs drawn and we were advised to isolate while we wait. The next 6 days waiting on those results went by so slow. We got a call from the specialist stating that Owen’s t-cells were extremely low and it’s possible that he could have something called SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency). SCID is a rare, life-threatening genetic disorder where babies are born without a functioning immune system (lacking T and B cells). It is a pediatric emergency requiring early diagnosis via newborn screening, with fatal outcomes by age one if untreated. Treatment involves stem cell transplant to rebuild the immune system, with a better prognosis if done early. SCID is also commonly known as “Bubble baby disease”. The only way to know for sure if Owen has this is a genetic test which we are currently waiting on results from. We have had to pull the other kids from school to protect Owen from any form of possible sickness and germs. We have to have no contact with anyone. The only one leaving the home is Michael because unfortunately life is not free and we have bills to pay so he goes to work and back changing his clothes and washing immediately.
This has been extremely stressful on all of us 😢 we are trying our best to stay positive and leave this in gods hands. Please just pray for our baby boy. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
